CRAFT YARN COUNCIL'S "CERTIFIED INSTRUCTOR PROGRAM" IS COORDINATING WITH KNIT & CROCHET SHOW DATES AND VENUE IN RENO!
Now you can take the Certified Instructor Program training without making an extra trip. The Craft Yarn Council is delighted to present both its Crochet and Knit certification programs on September 10-11, 2012 in conjunction with the Knit & Crochet Show in Reno, NV. The classes will be held in advance of the show so as not to conflict with the ongoing class program and the popular marketplace. To cover the usual Certification class curriculum, the program has been condensed to 12 hours from 15. Students receive a list of samples that must be completed and brought to class. Monday hours: 2-5 pm and 6-9 pm Tuesday hours: 9am - 12 noon and 1-5 pm
ABOUT THE PROGRAM...Since 1982, the Craft Yarn Council (CYC) has sponsored its Certified Instructors Program (CIP). The goal has remained constant: to provide current crocheters and knitters wih the skills and confidence to teach others. With the explosion of interest in knitting and crochet, people are clamoring for lessons, and stores are interested in offering classes. There's never been a better time to share your crochet and knitting talents and become a certified teacher.
BASIC REQUIREMENTS...To apply, you must have advanced beginner's skills in crocheting or knitting and the enthusiasm to teach. This is NOT a beginner's course.
ABOUT THE TEACHER...The Knit Certification class is taught by Arnetta Kenney, a nationally recognized knit and crochet reacher, who has taught at guild and Stitches shows and for the Craft Yarn Council's Certification Program for more than 15 years. In addition, Arnetta is an Adjunct Professor in the Fashion Institute of Technology's School of Textile Surface Design Department and a boutique knit and crochet designer.
ABOUT THE TEACHER...The Crochet Certification class is taught by Barbara Hillery Van Elsen who founded the NYC Crochet Guild. In addition to teaching for the Craft Yarn Council, local and national guilds, and specialty stores, she is a fiber artist whose work has appeared in numerous publications. Her freeform pieces also have been exhibited in Australia and NYC, where she has lectured at the Museum of Arts and Design. She helped organize, teach workshops and install the NY Reef of the Hyberbolic Crochet Coral Reef exhibited at the World Financial Center and Show Gallery in NY. Parts of the ehxibit went on to the Smithsonian Museum in 2011.
CERTIFICATION PROGRAM COST: $150 Members of CGOA & TKGA pay $125.
